In Episode 1 of Furifure 2 (also known as Free Friends 2), the story begins with Shinozaki Sumire, a high school student who is on the verge of losing her home due to financial difficulties. Desperate to save her home, Sumire turns to a message board called "Free Friends," a platform where individuals can arrange compensated dating. Unaware of the consequences, she decides to sell her body to earn money.
Sumire's first encounter is with Kaito, a man who is also using the Free Friends platform. Kaito, a teacher intern at Sumire's school, has his own emotional baggage. He is haunted by memories of his younger sister, who was separated from him during their parents' divorce. Violets, or "Sumire," remind him of his sister, and he seeks solace in the company of women to escape his lingering feelings of loss and nostalgia.
The two meet without realizing their shared past. Sumire, unaware that Kaito is her long-lost brother, views him as just another client. Their encounter is charged with tension and emotional complexity, as Kaito begins to suspect that Sumire might be the sister he has been searching for. The episode ends with Kaito discovering Sumire's true identity, setting the stage for a morally ambiguous and emotionally charged relationship.
